Windforce PLC, Sri Lanka’s leader in renewable energy, is planning to commission a 10MW solar power plant and a 15W Hiruras wind power plant.
The solar power plant located in Vavunathivu will be commissioned in May 2022, while the wind power plant in Mannar will be commissioned by the end of the year.
In the 3rd Quarter of the 2021/22 financial year, which ended on 31st December 2021, the group consolidated revenue of LKR 3.6 billion. The Profit After Tax increased by 4% Y-o-Y from LKR 1.97 billion to LKR 2.05 billion.
The company’s solar energy sector has experienced a growth of 22% in the 9- months ending on 31st December 2021. The newly commissioned Tororo Solar power plant in Uganda made notable contributions to the sector’s growth. The rooftop solar plant of Sky Solar (Pvt) Ltd, acquired in September 2021, also contributed to the sector’s growth.
A commendable performance by Terraqua International, Energy Reclamation, HPD Power, and Peak Power Delta, together with consistently high rainfall, allowed Windforces’ hydropower division to increase its hydropower generation capacity by 28%. This was reflected in the sector’s 25% increase in revenue.
While the wind energy division yielded a 10% greeted output, its YoY revenue showcased a decline.
