Sri Lanka’s Most Admired Companies Awards 2021, organized by CIMA, ICC Sri Lanka, and Daily FT as its namesake, unveiled Sri Lanka’s most admired companies in an award ceremony held on October 3rd, 2021.
The event judged all participating companies under the most stringent globally accepted criteria. It considered the company’s financial performance and the value created to its shareholders, customers, and the wider community. The competition was open to companies who had been in business for more than five years as of June 30th with a 30% or more Sri Lankan ownership. The competition was open to both listed and unlisted companies.
AIA Insurance was the event’s platinum sponsor, while KPMG was the Assurance Partner. Dialog Axiata was recognized as the event’s Communication partner.
Through a link shared by Dialog Axiata, the general public was asked to nominate the organizations that they felt had a more significant impact according to the criteria mentioned above. The people’s Nominees were then invited to apply. The initial round consisted of a financial evaluation which was handled by CIMA members and ratified by KPMG. 20 out of the initial 50 moved on to the second round. The second round presentations were all driven by the top management of the respective companies.
The panel of judges that ultimately declared the awards was chaired by Ravi Abeysuriya & included the likes of Hajar Alafifi, Rolf Blaser, Sunil Dissanayake, Varuni Amunugama Fernando, Santosh Menon, Faizal Salieh, Dr. Sulochana Sigera, and Deepal Sooriyaarachchi.
Cargills Ceylon PLC, CBL Investments Ltd, Ceylinco Life Insurance Ltd, Commercial Bank PLC, Dilmah Ceylon Tea Company PLC, HNB PLC, LOLC PLC, NDB Bank PLC, NSB Bank PLC and, People’s Bank PLC were regarded as the top 10 most admired companies in Sri Lanka for 2021. (Alphabetical order)
