The 1st Quarter of 2020 pre Co-vid 19 recorded the total number of tourist arrivals as 507,704. The number of tourist would gradually decrease following the increased spread of the virus. However with the loosening of travel restrictions and the implementation of traveler friendly health guidelines March 2021 saw the arrival of 4581 tourist bringing the total number of arrivals for the first quarter of 2021 to 9629 in total.
With the reopening of the nation’s borders January 2021 saw the arrival of 1682 tourists which was surpassed in February with the total number of arrivals being recorded at 3366.
The March 2021 arrivals can be broken down to 1514 from Kazakhstan, 502 from Germany, 316 from the United Kingdom, 287 from Ukraine, 223 from China and 197 from Russia.
With the newest numbers Kazakhstan takes 1st place in recording 2746 arrivals in the country for the 1st quarter. This is closely followed Ukraine with 2592 arrivals, Germany with 766. 4th on the list is the United Kingdom with 398 tourist arrivals, China with 367 and Russia with 336 arrivals in the country.
Local authorities expect the number of tourists to increase in the coming months of May and June and are expecting a resurgence of the tourism industry one of the most affected sectors as the world heals from Co-vid 19.
