State Minister of Co-operative Services, Marketing Development and Consumer Protection Lasantha Alagiyawanna announced that the Cabinet of Ministers, in a meeting held on the 7th of October, 2021, agreed to remove the price controls of cement, LP Gas, Milk powder, and wheat flour. 

During this meeting, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to ensure no unnecessary or arbitrary price increases occur.
