Speaking at a webinar organized by the International Chamber of Commerce the State Minister for Finance, Money, Capital Markets & State Enterprise Reform Ajith Nivrad Cabral stated that the government hopes to pass the Port City Economic Commission Bill on the 18th and 19th of May with whatever amendments recommended by the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka.
The State Minister further added that the work on the bill was commenced in 2013 and it was continued on by the previous government as well. Therefore the minister stated that they expect support from the opposition party for the passing of this bill which would allow for an extra $ 80 million to the GDP and the creation of over 100 000 new jobs.
