According to the most recent reports the Colombo Stock Exchange is to list 4 new state owned business enterprises (SOBE’s). These new enterprises would be an addition to the already existing 52 strategically important state owned enterprises out of a total of 287 making the new total strategically important business enterprises 56.
The new enterprises include Selendiva Investments (Pvt) Ltd, Sahasya Investments, The Centre for Robotics and the Sri Lanka Biotechnology (Pvt) Ltd are listed as part of the government’s effort to revise loss making state enterprises and transform them to compete in the global markets. Furthermore these new institutions will be under a public-private partnership which allows the government to focus on large scale matters while leaving the day to day administration matters to private entities.
