According to the most recent reports the Colombo Stock Exchange is to list 4  new state owned business enterprises (SOBE’s). These new enterprises would be  an addition to the already existing 52 strategically important state owned  enterprises out of a total of 287 making the new total strategically important  business enterprises 56.

The new enterprises include Selendiva Investments (Pvt) Ltd, Sahasya  Investments, The Centre for Robotics and the Sri Lanka Biotechnology (Pvt) Ltd  are listed as part of the government’s effort to revise loss making state enterprises  and transform them to compete in the global markets. Furthermore these new  institutions will be under a public-private partnership which allows the  government to focus on large scale matters while leaving the day to day  administration matters to private entities.
