Construction Begins On JAT R&D Facility

Reaffirming the commitments made through the IPO, which took place on the 20th of July, 2021, JAT Holdings has commenced construction on the state-of the-art $2.2 million R&D facility adjoining its head office in Thalawatugoda. 

The complex designed by architect Chamika De Alwis is expected to be completed in 7-9 months. It is expected to serve as one of Sri Lanka’s cutting-edge facilities and one of South Asia’s premier research centers for coatings. 

The premises will be a conducive environment for innovation capable of housing 20+ R&D specialists. The facility will also hold the latest advanced manufacturing equipment and accelerated weather meters, humidity chambers, salt spray machines, elongation testers, high-end color spectrometers, and all types of Rheometers. 

According to JAT, the R&D center will help the company expand its presence in Bangladesh, India, and Africa in the long term. The proceeds of the IPO will be used to set up manufacturing facilities in Bangladesh and East Africa. The proceeds will also be used to finance the company’s marketing & development and WHITE by JAT.
