A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) allocating two large-scale renewable energy projects to India’s Adani group was signed last Friday, the 11th of March. The MoU was signed between representatives of the Adani Group, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), the Sustainable Energy Authority (SEA), and the Board of Investment (BOI).

This news comes soon after a Joint Venture (JV) was signed between the CEB and India’s National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) to set up a 50MW solar power park in Sampur, Trincomalee.

The two projects will be implemented in Mannar and Pooneryn with an investment of $500 million. Upon completion, the projects will have a combined capacity of 500MW. Adani group has expressed their ambitions to complete the projects within a year.
