Considered the one of the most successful India- Sri Lanka joint ventures CEAT Kelani holdings is the largest pneumatic tyre producer in Sri Lanka and the cumulative investment in Sri Lanka total LKR 8 billion
The company back in April 2019 commenced production in its groundbreaking TBR production facility. Therefore as part of assisting the government effort to reduce dependency on foreign exports CEAT announced that they will be increasing production of the Truck Bus Radial Tyres through a two phased expansion.
The first phase will see a production increase of 65% and the 2nd phase seeks to increase capacity up to 125% by June. The production of the CEAT Winmile AW in the size range of 10.00 R 20, the only Truck Bus Radial tyre produced in Sri Lanka will see an increase in production from 18000 tyres per year to 40200 tyres per year allowing the company to cater for 42% of the local demand for the tyre.
The increase in production according to company estimates will help the country save LKR 11 billion in foreign exchange and possibly even more with the latest increases.
